Injeanieous Designs. . . definitely a play on words. The name derives from the way I sign my name, Jeanie, on my silk scarves.

Painting is something new to me but something both relaxing and stimulating. Relaxing because I become totally absorbed in the painting; stimulating because I am continually finding new ideas and inspiration.

I have been a teacher in various schools and universities all my life but not a painter. That first started one afternoon when a teacher training class was cancelled. One of the trainees invited me to her home where I discovered she was a silk painter. I spent a most enjoyable afternoon experimenting with the process.

A year or so later, when I was between jobs, I decided to paint a scarf. I became hooked. Since then I have developed my skills, learning mainly from observation, experimentation and books. I love the way the dye moves on the silk, although controlling it is a challenge. There are still many techniques I want to explore and, hopefully, master.

Recently I have started producing silk wall hangings and pictures, as many customers suggested the scarves were too pretty to wear but should be hung on the wall. Whether gracing a wall or being worn to complete an ensemble, each piece is a unique artwork to be enjoyed by the viewer or wearer.
